Recently, flower shops display many modern varieties of sunflowers with complex textures and unique shades. However, the flowers used for this styling are the most traditional, simple sunflowers found at a local supermarket. The selection includes two medium-sized stems and three smaller ones that almost resemble yellow gerberas. Using these easily available market blooms, I created two straightforward arrangements that bring a bright energy into the indoor space.
A Minimal Display with Five Sunflowers and Touches of Green

The first styling uses a Kasama ware ceramic pitcher as the primary vessel. Two medium sunflowers are positioned near the rim, while the other three smaller stems are placed with distinct height variations to create a vertical layer. To fill the space around the stems, I gathered various green leaves and small flowers available around the house, including delicate astrantia.
For this arrangement, I used leftover peony leaves saved from a previous bouquet. Keeping durable greens from past arrangements is a practical habit that helps during styling. Gathering these collected leaves at the base of the stems provides the necessary volume and structural support for the tall flowers.
Creating a Shifting Visual Line across Three Vessels

The second styling focuses on a simple method using multiple containers to create an attractive interior view without difficult techniques. Three small vases are placed together on top of a tile-lined basket. The vessel on the far right is the same Kasama pottery piece used in the first style. Each container holds a combination of the remaining sunflowers and stems of yellow gloriosa.
Choosing the yellow gloriosa allows the display to maintain a consistent yellow color theme while introducing a fluid, dancing movement that straight sunflower stems lack. The three vases are arranged carefully to guide the eye diagonally from one side to the other in a rhythmic, stepping pattern. Even with common supermarket flowers, grouping them across multiple small vessels on a distinct surface turns them into a lively interior element.
Working with these familiar flowers changed my perspective. Today, many unique, modern flower varieties exist, making it easy to overlook a common sunflower. However, taking the time to choose a vessel and pair it with other items to create a dedicated corner brought a deep sense of satisfaction. Flowers are inherently beautiful on their own. This experience made me realize that having the mindset and taking the action to truly engage with that natural simplicity is what is genuinely important to me.
Stay calm and enjoy your quiet moments.
